The
Loft is an interesting structure, a mix of modern architecture,
clean, modern lines but the structure has retained much of it's
original charm and still features the terracotta floors, exposed
beams and exposed stone walls. It comfortably sleeps 6 people
and has all of the modern conveniences necessary to make your
stay as relaxing and stress free as possible. The building was
orginally a grainary from the 13th C, and is part of the large
main 'casa colonica' where the owners live. The Loft has been
finely restored in the autumn of 2003 and spans 3 split levels.
It is bright and spacious and one of the bedrooms has a huge
skylight which allows you to admire the starry Tuscan skies!
On the first level covering 120 sq.m. you find the living and
kitchen area and two bathrooms, both with showers, toilets and
bidets. The fully functional kitchen is equipped with a microwave,
oven, gas stove, fridge/freezer, toaster and a dishwasher. There
is also a washing machine in the loft and ample linens and towels
for your stay. Guests may rent a cellular phone for their stay
and connection to the internet can be arranged with the owner.
There
is a stereo, DVD player and the Loft features 3 Sat TV's!! Up
one split level you will find the first double bedroom, boasting
a charming wooden four poster bed. In this bedroom there is
also a single bed. Up another level to 'the loft level' you
find another very large bedroom, with a queen size bed and two
singles. The single beds can be moved around on request and
if you need a baby bed, no problem -just ask! Outside the 'Loft'
boasts a wonderful 'loggia' , typical to most of the Tuscan
artchitecture. The property shares the boundaries with the world
famous vineyards of 'Frescobaldi'. The gardens offer a breezy
and relaxing place to enjoy your Chianti from Frescobaldi and
an enticing plate of pasta! In the grassy fields that surround
the loft, there are other places for relaxing and outdoor dining,
and there is another gazebo placed there for your enjoyment.
There is a large BBQ . The location is fantastic, perched on
a hill, you are able to really experience the beauty and calm
of the Tuscan countryside. Here you are surrounded by the typical
rows of grape vines, olive groves and the green woodlands.
Florence
is only 20 kms away and it is easily reachable also by public
transport. Extremely closeby you can visit the Frescobaldi cellars,
and taste the sumptious wines that the Marquis di Frescobaldi
still makes today. You can also visit the intriguing medieval
castle of Nipozzano , built in 1371, which today belongs to
the Frescobaldi family. 2 kms away is the town of Pelago where
you will find general stores for graceries, pharmacy, banks
and other general stores. 5Kms away is the bigger town of Pontassieve
where you will find everythign you could need. There is a large
national park 10kms drive from the Loft and closeby there are
places for horseriding and mountain bike hire.
